We were lucky enough to be invited to share some of our masks at the Cultural Festival that is coming up. They will be on display in the foyer for everyone to see and enjoy!
Today we kicked off our fractions unit with some fun immersion tasks related to fractions. We explored the numerator and denominator, sets, games and some fractions bingo. Miss Smith had a fun workshop working with bugs! When might you use fractions at home?
As many of you will know we had a super busy end to Term 2 making our country inspired mask. We had to be very patient with the process of layering our papier mache, drying it, adding detail, painting and finishing off. A huge thank you to all the parent helpers who turned up to help out at our sessions. Our finished masks are up on the wall in the Red Zone if you'd like to come see them. On Monday we had a Clearview Flag Ceremony to celebrate the beginning of the Olympics. We had 31 flags to represent all the cultures of students at Clearview! The ceremony ended with a special bagpipe and drumming display. It was a wonderful experience! Well, we had a FANTASTIC trip to Willowbank today. There were so many things to see, hear, observe and learn! We got to explore the park at our own pace, learning about animals, talking with keepers, and even talking with friendly cockatoo! The Ko Tane experience was amazing. We were welcomed with a powhiri, listened to waiata and saw poi, ti rakau and haka performed. Then it was our turn! What an amazing day of learning we had. Here are some highlights of our trip! Team Spark enjoyed participating in the Sports Spectacular run by Sport Canterbury last week. We participated in rugby, soccer, netball and basketball. Here are some photos from the day. For inquiry, we have been looking at Aboriginal dot art. We have looked at the symbols and techniques used and today we had a go. There were some challenges - it was tough to get even spacing, symmetrical dots, not smudge your work etc but our practise ones are looking great so far. We will be planning our own piece of art work which will tell a story and work on those early next term. |
