Alyssa went to a Sinterklass picnic in the weekend to celebrate her Dutch heritage. We loved hearing all about the games and festivities that took place and she kindly bought in special Dutch biscuits to share. Thanks Alyssa!
This week for our reading activity we are designing a Random Acts of Kindness calendar for December. It will have 25 RAK's for us to complete between now and Christmas Day. We had lots of great ideas during our discussion and look forward to hearing which ones we have completed each day. What is something you would love to have done for you?
Every fortnight before Whole School Assembly we have our buddy class time. HB33 is paired with HB6. Today we helped our buddies practise their letter of the week -m. We made sure they were forming their m correctly and also checked their numbers 0-9. Then we were allowed some fun with the chalk drawing things beginning with m! Team Spark are lucky enough to be having tennis lessons this week with Shane and Ian. Today we learnt a lot about team work and ball control and tomorrow we will experiment with our hits over a net. We had heaps of fun competing in the relays - although if you dropped the ball you had to do push ups!
Wow! What a fantastic time we had at Blue Skies for Team Spark camp. Unfortunately the skies were not so blue on Thursday but we all had such a fun time anyway. We filled up Thursday by settling into our bunk rooms, playing parachute games, heaps of Jump Jam, art zone, game zone, rugby, tug of war, free time and much more! We ventured outside after tea to play Capture the Flag and also explored the obstacle course. We then settled into our sleeping bags for a movie.
On Friday we had a go at Orienteering which was heaps of fun! We will have a slideshow of photos on each morning this week so please feel free to come in and see what we got up too! Our last Literacy Menu had a nature focus and one of our stations was to conduct an experiment about growing seeds. Using a few items we bagged our seeds and sat back and watched! Today we were amazed at how big some seeds were and how long the roots were! We are observing the growth and recording our thoughts in a diary. We will be bringing these home to plant at the end of the term!
Today we started our new genre of writing - Explanation. Explanations explain 'why' or 'how' something happens. Here is the video we watched today and we then had to try to explain why it happened.
This week is Book Week at Clearview. Each day after lunch a different teacher comes to read to us. Yesterday we had Mrs White and Miss White. We wonder who will come today?
On Thursday it is dress up as your favourite book character day. We can't wait to see what characters arrive in our zone! |
